Research Interests
My main research interests are evolutionary algorithms and other heuristic approaches to optimization. Much of my published work deals with multiobjective optimization problems, techniques for tackling them, and theoretical issues related to these methods. In Manchester, I have been applying these methods in several computational biology projects including: machine learning to support mining of 'omics data; optimization of analytical instruments; and directed evolution of aptamers. I have also been working with Hong Yue and Martin Brown on methods for inverse-modelling of the NF-Kappa-B pathway.
