Research Interests

I'm interested in the application of nonlinear dynamics to the life sciences, especially to the dynamics of regulatory processes. Im recent years I've been working on the modelling of circadian rhythms and on the design, analysis and interpretatin from time-series of cDNA microarray experiments. I've also got a long-standing interest in all aspects of HIV biology, mainly through my collaboration with Dr. B. Korber (Los Alamos) and, through this work, have become interested in phylogenetics. Finally, I held a half-time appointment in the (former UMIST's) department of Optometry and Neuroscience and am especially interested in problems related to neural coding of sensory data.
