Current Position
I work as the project manager for the Manchester Centre for Integrative Systems Biology (MCISB) at the University of Manchester, with Prof. Douglas Kell (MCISB director).
Research Interests
My main responsibility in the MCISB is the coordination of activities within our centre. The MCISB is pioneering the development of new technologies in Systems Biology, a new conceptual view on biological research that uses complex computational and mathematical analysis to advance traditional methods. We are developing a number a experimental and computational techniques for the study of the metabolism of bakers' yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae).
In addition, I am active in the creation of a network of SB research in Manchester and in the UK; here, our goal is to provide a hub for such activities, together with the other CISB centres in Newcastle, London (Imperial), Edinburgh, Oxford and Nottingham. In addition, we maintain close links with our colleagues in Amsterdam and in the industry.
To complement our research, the whole MCISB team including myself is involved in teaching in the DTC which is headed by Prof. Hans Westerhoff, here in the MIB.
